Hillary And Subprimes

‘Memba a few days ago, the Left was all up in arms about “McCain guru linked to subprime crisis?” All the usual players on the Left were linking that article. I wonder what they will do with this one?

Hillary Clinton spends considerable time on the campaign trail bemoaning unscrupulous lenders who have left millions of Americans scrambling to keep their homes but all the while her campaign manager, Margaret “Maggie” Williams, has sat on the board of one of the nation’s once-largest and now-bankrupt sub-prime mortgage lenders.

Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson told FOXNews.com late Sunday that Williams, a longtime Clinton ally, didn’t join Clinton’s Democratic presidential campaign as a volunteer until after Delta Financial Corporation — for which Williams is a director — went bankrupt in December 2007.

Well well well, that is very interesting. About as interesting as Clinton and Obama taking over a million dollars in campaign donations from subprime lenders.

Senator McCain has stated: “It is not the duty of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers.” For taking a position that empowers adult Americans to be responsible for their own actions, Obama and Clinton assaulted him. Their idea is to pump millions and millions into rescuing people who made bad deals, did not read the contracts, and failed to hold up their end of the agreement. Do I feel bad for these people? Sure. I bet McCain does, too. But, it is not my responsibility to give them my money to help them out of a problem they made, and it is certainly not the governments.

The Man Ask When Hillary Will Apologize To Gen. Patraeus

Via Stop The ACLU, originally over at Blogs For John McCain, where you can also see the video of when Hillary insulted General Patraeus.

Hillary will apologize about the same time Obama admits he attended some of Jeremiah Wright’s hate filled sermons.

Thanks, J.A.

PS: Apparently, the Kos Kids Konglomerate Clinton supporters are having yet another hissy fit meltdown and are going on strike against the boss. The boss, in this case, would, of course, be Markos Moulitos. See Sister Toldjah for the 411. I taint linking Kos.

McCain Calls For Tax Cuts, Job Training

This sounds a whole bunch better then simply giving money to people, eh?

ATLANTA (AP) — Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has said economics isn’t his strong suit, said Friday tax cuts and job training are needed to lift an economy that is either in recession or is headed toward one.

The Arizona senator said President Bush’s tax cuts, passed by Congress over McCain’s objections, should be made permanent so that families and companies do not see tax increases when the cuts expire in 2010. And he called for slashing corporate taxes and repealing the alternative minimum tax, which was originally aimed at the wealthy but now threatens to hit millions in the middle class unless Congress continues to provide annual adjustments to it.

Compare this to the Democrats, who consider the money that you, and companies, make is not actually yours, but an allowance that the government is kind enough to let keep to some degree.

Also

“I’ve been involved in economic issues affecting this country for the last 25 years,” McCain said. “Of course I am probably better-versed on national security issues, certainly far more than any of my potential two opponents.”

And what about Hillary Clinton, Fratricidal Maniac?

The morning after Tuesday’s primaries, Hillary Clinton’s campaign released a memo titled “The Path to the Presidency.” I eagerly dug into the paper, figuring it would explain how Clinton would obtain the Democratic nomination despite an enormous deficit in delegates. Instead, the memo offered a series of arguments as to why Clinton should run against John McCain - i.e., “Hillary is seen as the one who can get the job done” - but nothing about how she actually could. Is she planning a third-party run? Does she think Obama is going to die? The memo does not say.

I don’t think the love affair with Hillary is going very well for either cBS or The New Republic.

John McCain Represents Everything Gloria Steinem Hates

It has to be hard to be an aging activist whose message is no longer relevant. Gloria Steinem was in the news all the time in the 1960s and 1970s when she was on the front lines of the feminist movement, which I’ve often said didn’t do us women any favors. She was burning her bras and demeaning men and everything male. Masculine was out and feminine was in. Men would be required to become more sensitive and accommodating to women …. until women didn’t like them anymore.

Gloria Steinem made her fortune declaring that the feminine was a more evolved life form than the masculine. And then she disappeared into a footnote and has not been heard from in years.

Now, she has found her voice again as a surrogate of Hillary Clinton. She has found a high profile masculine male that she can attempt to emasculate publicly and get lots and lots of publicity for it. She has chosen to attempt to throw a punch at John McCain by devaluing one of the most masculine of activities, being a man at war.

Steinem raised McCain’s Vietnam imprisonment as she sought to highlight an alleged gender-based media bias against Clinton.

“Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], ‘What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?’” Steinem said, to laughter from the audience.

McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five and a half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, “I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so.”

She goes on to spout off about how all of our presidents have been male and therefore inferior. She’d now very much like all men in the country to please surgically castrate themselves.

So the question comes to mind …. what were Hillary Clinton, Gloria Steinem and John McCain doing for their country in the 1960s. I was thinking about just that when I saw an article on DIGG that answered just that question.

From This Pilgrim’s Progress … What Gloria was doing in 1968

By 1968 Steinem’s work had become more overtly political. She began writing a column, “The City Politic,” for New York magazine. Her involvement in feminism intensified in 1968 when she attended a meeting of a radical feminist group, the Redstockings. Proud of her feminist roots—her paternal grandmother had served as president of the Ohio Women’s Suffrage Association from 1908 to 1911—Steinem founded the National Women’s Political Caucus in July 1971 with Betty Friedan, Bella Abzug, and Shirley Chisholm. That same year she began exploring the possibility of a new magazine for women, one that treated contemporary issues from a feminist perspective. The result was Ms. magazine, which first appeared as an insert in the December 1971 issue of New York.

What Hillary was doing in 1968 …

“In September 1968, Hillary Diane Rodham, role model and student government president, was addressing Wellesley College freshmen girls — back when they were still called `girls’ — about methods of protest. It was a hot topic in that overheated year of what she termed `confrontation politics from Chicago to Czechoslovakia.’

As the nation boiled over Vietnam, civil rights and the slayings of two charismatic leaders, Ms. Rodham was completing a sweeping intellectual, political and stylistic shift. She came to Wellesley as an 18-year-old Republican, a copy of Barry Goldwater’s right-wing treatise, `The Conscience of a Conservative,’ on the shelf of her freshman dorm room. She would leave as an antiwar Democrat whose public rebuke of a Republican senator in a graduation speech won her notice in Life magazine as a voice for her generation.”

What John McCain was doing from 1967 until 1973? Languishing in a North Vietnamese prison.

Sorry Gloria and Hillary, but I think John McCain wins the Alpha Male contest.

Who Will Pay for the Democrats Promises?

Wouldn’t it be great if we really could have everything the democrats are promising us in their campaigns? Free college tuition for everyone. Free health care for everyone. Tax Cuts! Help with your mortgage. They might even come out and mow your lawn for you!

The list of promises from both democratic candidates is very long. The National Taxpayers Union has a very rough estimate of $287 billion for Obama’s promises and $218 billion for Clinton’s promises. Even at those staggering costs, neither candidate have much to say about how they will fund this utopia they promise. They say something about repealing Bush’s tax cuts (note that to them this isn’t the same th
