Just More Of The Same

‘Memba this?

This was the commercial that Barry ran non-stop in many of the battleground states, of which mine was one. And, of course, those in the Obamanuts-O-Sphere called McCain McSame, and referred to a McCain win as Bush’s 3rd term. Sure seems like we are getting Clinton’s 3rd term now, eh?

Of the 47 appointees named so far to transition or staff posts, 31 have ties to the Clinton administration, including all but one member of the 12-person Transition Advisory Board.

And we are now looking at potentially Tom Daschle for Sec. of Health and Human Services (good thing his wife Linda isn’t a registered lobbyistfor the health care industry or anything), and let’s not forget the talk of Hillary for Sec. of State, and even Billy Jeff for Ambassador to the U.N. The Wall Street Journal has a thinly veiled editorial-on-the-politics-pages defending all this, but, the Change We Deserve sure seems to be Clinton’s 3rd term, and Just More Of The Same, eh?

In a long, long, godawful long post at Alternet, Jeremy Scahilltells us that this is pretty much Slick’s 3rd term. He forgets about all the other fun. Of course, with the maybe conspiracy theories about an Obama affair, his birth certificate, and his Selective Service registration out there, maybe there will be more Clintonista type fun. And let’s not forget Tony Rezko and his singing to the prosecutors. I wonder who Barry will bomb when he gets caught doing something unseemly?

Funniest quote

“What this conversation is about is laughable if you ask people in America what they care about. They care about the economy, jobs, education, health care. They don’t care about whether somebody who fills a particular box is from a prior administration,” he said

Um, when the candidate has run on a platform based almost solely on Change and Hope, changing Washington, moving forward, well, yeah, people might care. They might start wondering why they didn’t just vote for Hillary.

What Will The Democrat Congress Do In 2009?

Everyone is asking “WWBD?” as of late. What Will Barry Do? is obviously of importance, considering all the hopiness and changiness that Barry promised to the weak minded dupes who never thought to inquire why they were serving on something called a “Death Star.” Patterico solicited ideas on this the other day, and there were some pretty good answers.

Some policy decisions are pretty simple

  • He will appoint massively far left Progressive judges whose ideas on abortion on demand match his
  • He will reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine through the FCC, thereby avoiding a rather simplistic lawsuit based on the 1st Amendment (Congress shall pass no law). I have read that some recommend using the 9th and 10th if this occurs
  • He will increase the redeployment of troops from Iraq ahead of what is safe
  • He’ll send a token force of maybe a couple thousand troops to Afghanistan
  • He won’t get involved in Iran, because the EU nations who have been negotiating will tell him to piss off
  • He’ll get his basketball court installed

Other then that, I do not expect him to actually get much of his legislation passed. I doubt much of it will even make it to committee. The Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid led Congress has their own agenda, and if happens to coincide with President Obama’s, so be it. But, do not expect much legislation to get actually passed. This is a legislative body which couldn’t even pass a resolutionexpressing sympathy for the residents of Greensburg, Ks, after the massive tornado, nor one expressing support of the goals and ideals of Mother’s Day, without first sending simplistic legislation like that to committee. It took them months to pass the Greensburg resolution. The Mother’s Day one never did. So, what do they do in 2009?

  • A total repeal of the 2001/2003 tax cuts. The bill that does this will expand the number of people in the lower classes who do not pay any income tax. Barry is forced to sign. This will happen by mid February
  • Repeal of tax breaks on energy companies, particularly oil companies. By mid February.
  • Backdoor legislation increasing corporate taxes
  • more bailouts as Democrat policies damage the economy even more
  • Passing the card check legislation for unions
  • Re-instituting the ban on offshore drilling. Mid February
  • They’ll get around to nationalized health care and/or insurance by summer, but, will not do anything till near the winter holidays, when people aren’t watching
  • massively reducing appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, intelligence agencies, and measures for the international portion of the war on terrorism. By June
  • Passing legislation allowing the telecoms to be sued over the “domestic wiretapping”
  • Papercut legislation on handguns will start, then they will wait for a major incident to occur before passing sweeping legislation that restricts all guns
  • Climate change legislation
  • They’ll throw a sop to Obama in the form of passing his Global Poverty Act, but, will fail to fund it, and perhaps pass his $500/$1,000 tax rebate-welfare check idea
  • Investigation after investigation into the Bush admin
  • Legislation closing G’itmo and ending the military trials

As far as it goes, I believe the Congress will have about as cozy a relationship with Obama as they did with Bush. They will do what they want to do, not what Obama wants them to do. He may want to appear centrist during his first year, but, what he will look like will be a dupe of Congress. They will be passing legislation that he really wants, but didn’t want to go for so quick.

What do you think will happen?

A Smile Works As Well As The Bailout Package

Interesting advice

THE threat of recession could disappear if we all put a smile on our face, the Government’s top money man said today.

After two months of persistent bad economic news, Treasury secretary Ken Henry said the worst could be avoided if Australians simply cheered up.

“Fundamentally what is driving weaker economic outcomes globally at the moment is fractured confidence,” Dr Henry said.

“We can talk ourselves into worse outcomes; of course we can. People do; it wouldn’t be the first time. But we don’t have to,” he said during a speech at the National Press Club.

On one hand, he is correct. It is a loss in confidence. And, consider that the Democrats, who have railed about a “bad economy” since Bush took office, saw their whining become reality. Being positive will certainly help.

On the other hand…well, there is no other hand. It may sound silly coming from the Aussie’s top money man, but, if leaders push doom and gloom, you get doom and gloom. If they push positives, yeah, may not always work, but, it sure doesn’t hurt.

Anyhow, can a nice smile be worse then the Crap Sandwich 2.0 that Congress has fed us? It sure doesn’t have the capability for abuse that all that money has, eh? Dr. Henry also stated that Australia’s tax system was too complicated, and should be simplified.

A Preview Of Obama Nation

Without comment: Single mother on benefits is moved into £1m five-bedroom house - funded by the taxpayer

A mother-of-five claiming benefits is living in a detached home worth £1million ($1.554 million) - with taxpayers helping fund her £25,000 ($38,884) annual rent.

The luxury five-bedroom home with two sitting rooms, a conservatory and a double garage is being paid for with housing benefits handed out by her local council.

Situated in a smart north London street, the £1million home is out of the price range of most families in the UK. The average house price in Britain is £224,064 ($348,370).

Nigerian single mother Omowunmi Odia moved her family into the home two weeks ago and last night said she was pleased to be living there - although she criticised the large house for having a small bedrooms.

Just spreadin’ the wealth around.

Jamie Gorelick For Attorney General??????

Hope! Change! Looking forward, not back! Changing the landscape of Washington! A new way of doing business! Obama’s asking you to Believe in his ability to bring real change to Washington. The kind of change that brings us back to the disasterous wall between law enforcement and intelligence (via Patterico)

As he prepares to take office, President-elect Barack Obama is relying on a small team of advisers who will lead his transition operation and help choose the members of a new Obama administration. Following is part of a series of profiles of potential members of the administration.

Name: Jamie Gorelick

Being considered for: Attorney general

Carries as baggage: Her work at Fannie Mae, which had to be bailed out by the government in September as part of a $200 billion deal. Ms. Gorelick left the company just as it was coming under attack for huge accounting failures. She has also drawn criticism for her role at the Justice Department, in which she allegedly created an intelligence “wall” that hindered counterterrorism agents in the years before the Sept. 11 attacks.

There is no “alleged” about it, NY Times, which also takes the time to take a snarky shot at “Conservative bloggers” who “have already begun trying to derail Ms. Gorelick’s possible nomination as attorney general, pointing to her experiences at both Fannie Mae and the Sept. 11 commission.” Gee, ya think there is a reason for that, Grey Lady?

Priority For Barry: Tells Us About The Visitors!

Welcome to the freak show, president elect Obama!

Will there be disclosure of UFO files under the Obama administration? By Dan Bacher

If there was ever a chance to disclose the truth about the massive UFO cover up by the U.S. national security state since 1947, it could come under the incoming Obama presidential administration.

John Podesta, chief of Obama’s transition team and Clinton’s Chief of Staff from 1998 to 2001, has been a longtime advocate of openness in government and a strong supporter of the release of UFO documents by the U.S. In a ground breaking news conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. with investigative reporter Leslie Kean in 2002, he urged the federal government to “open the books” on government UFO investigations.

“I think it’s time to open the books on questions that have remained in the dark on the question of government investigations of UFOs,” said Podesta. “It’s time to find out what the truth really is that’s out there. We ought to do it because it’s right, we ought to do it because the American people, quite frankly, can handle the truth and we ought to do it because it’s the law.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9ttSXYwZsg)

I wonder if Barry will add this to his official Office of the President Elect site?

Lawyer Stephen Bassett of the Paradigm Research Group (PRG) is now spearheading a national political campaign, the “Million Fax on Washington” campaign, to pressure Obama to release UFO files and “end the UFO Truth Embargo.” Bassett, in an interview this week on the George Noory radio show, expressed strong optimism about the possibility of the opening of long-hidden UFO documents under an Obama administration, particularly when an advocate of UFO document disclosure like John Podesta is heading his transition team.

Barry and the rest of the elected Democrats will now get to feel the full power of the fever swamps, something they have mostly avoided for the past 8 years. Buckle up, campers, this ride is going to be a hoot!

Election Aftermath: Stock Market Tanks Further, Gun Sales Awesome!

Let’s see: we had the biggest two days drop since 1987 on Wall Street, occuring the two days after That One was elected. On the flip side, you might want to pick up some stock for companies such as Walther USA, H&K, Smith and Wesson, Glock, Baretta, Browning, and others who manufacture guns. Can’t wait to see their earnings reports for the 4th quarter!

And locally here in Raleigh

Barack Obama said he would improve the economy. Turns out he already has, at least in one retail niche: gun sales.

Starting in the days before the election, gun shops across the state have been mobbed by buyers who fear that Obama and a larger Democratic majority in Congress will restrict firearm sales.

Many were stocking up on things such as assault rifles, high-capacity magazines and handguns that they think would be the most likely targets of new laws, though practically everything related to shooting has been selling more quickly.

As I mentioned yesterday, I went and applied for my handgun permit. And the Wake County Sheriff’s office was packed with people of all ages and races. There was a little old blue hair, and she was applying for 3 licences. Heh! Do I need a gun? No. I approve of ownership of most (it is certain bullets that I am against, as they are not “arms”), but I have never felt a need. I will not keep it in my nightstand 10+1. I may or may not get my concealed permit in time. But, I would rather get one now before the Democrats hose our Right to own one.

Do I think it will happen right away? No. But, I also do not think it will be big, sweeping legislation. A bite here, a bite there, and soon the flea has eaten the buffalo.

And down in Athens, Georgia, a few people freaked out over a sign.

AGW Today: Let’s Do…..Nothing Substantive

Even after all these years of following the AGW issue, I still find it humorous that the Believers still do little more then try and draw attention to the issue

Willamette University students and other cyclists will bike to the state Capitol today to promote the fight against global warming. The bike ride will start at 2 p.m. on the university campus.

Yeah, that should solve the problem! Notice that none of these groups every really do anything such as raise money to go to fixing the issue? Even The Goracle is doing little more then going for a collective movement (which should be scary in its own right)

Former V-P and Nobel Peace laureate Al Gore told an audience at the Web 2.0 Summitin San Francisco on Friday that we need to use the latest web tools to organize a social movement in order to help rescue the earth from climate change. Gore, who has been an adviser to Google, served on the board of directors for Apple, and is currently a cleantech venture partner with Kleiner Perkins, said fighting climate change will need the same type of collective movement driven by the web that helped elect Barack Obama.

Granted, the collectivist movement that helped elect DeID* Obama worked. But, there is a vast difference between electing a politician and fixing an issue which they claim is mostly, or completely, Mankind’s fault. But, in reality, the whole AGW issue is there for four reasons: something for the Left to combat the military support by the right, as a way of getting people to join together to follow the Leftist movement, to make some money, and to control the world wide economy. Sharia Finance Coming To The USA?

Nope, that title is not a joke. And it is not that far off.

Charging that principles of Islamic law are being introduced in the United States by stealth, critics on Thursday will protest outside a U.S. Treasury Department seminar on shari’a-complaint finance.

Although this is not the department’s first “Islamic Finance 101” seminar, it comes amid a new push by Muslim figures in recent weeks to promote Islamic finance as a response to the debt-fueled global financial crisis.

Controversial Sunni scholar Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a leading advocate of shari’a-complaint finance (SCF), told a conference in Qatar last month that Muslims should take the opportunity provided by the crisis to replace capitalism with an Islamic financial system.

Now, people will go, so what, they are just looking at it.

Islamic financial products are those that comply with shari’a, the Islamic legal code associated with notorious punishments including the death penalty for apostasy, and stoning and amputations for other offenses.

In essence, SCF bans usury – the collection and payment of interest – and discourages heavy borrowing.

Other then the penalties, that does actually look like a system that the Democrats would prefer. Except if you are rich. Then re-education camps for you! And, in Liberal World, if you get a pay check, you are rich.

Of course, this is the way Islamisism works: creeping in to a country till all of a sudden people start realizing late what is happening. See England for a good example. Multiculturalism and politicalcorrectness enable this, as subtle and tiny steps are implemented. Islamic religious schools get a bit more radical every year, Muslims demand the removal of certain items from public view, they start calling for sharia law in their communities. And it is liberal/progressive policy which allows it.

Welcome to the next 4 years.
