He has already joined the ranks of the Media Who Have Lost It, so, now he goes a little farther with his “OMG, Barry could actually lose!” whining

Can Barack Obama actually blow this thing? Can he actually lose in November?

Yes. Check the polls, Roger.

We have a deeply troubled economy,

It has some issues, and Democrats running around, including Barack Obama, saying we are closing in on the next Great Depression sure doesn’t build confidence by the American people

an unpopular war,

Which barely gets a mention in the media anymore, is barely on people’s radar, and, is actually almost over, thanks to The Surge that Barry opposed, and continued to say was not working

a very unpopular president

Congress is even more unpopular, Roger, and, BDS aside, Bush is not running

and a historic reluctance on the part of the American people to elect the same party to the White House three terms in a row.

Check the polls, Roger.

“Dear (insert name of news source here”

At what point should you be forced to give up your press credentials because of massive bias which leads to journalistic malpractice and a complete lapse of journalistic ethics? How are you different from the Blogosphere, which tends to add opinion to news stories?”

Saracuda Smacks Biden With Fish In New Poll

I tell ya, this has got to leave a mark

Sarah Palin bests Joseph Biden 47% to 44% in a hypothetical head-to-head match-up for the presidency, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone surve.

In a Biden vs. Palin race, 84% of Republicans and 16% of Democrats back the Alaskan, and 75% of Democrats and 13% of Republicans support the senator. Unaffiliated voters give Palin the edge 45% to 39%.

And, I understand that most people surveyed thought Biden was really cranky and crusty.

Speaking of polls

  • It is dead even in Va. again
  • Pennsylvania is a dead heat now (big!)
  • Barry’s lead in Colorado is down to 1
  • Ohio has stretched to McCain by 4
  • Florida has stretched to Mac by 7
  • Utah is still massively McCain
  • And in New York (drum roll, please), Barry’s lead is down to 5 (B46-M41)

What desparate attack ad will Barry and Co. come up with next cause of this?

Bob Hebert Wants No Radical Agenda’s

Bob Hebert has written a standard liberal missive about how McCain is bad, in this case, McCain’s health care plan, which attempts to put the choice of choosing an insurance plan in the hands of the workers, not the government or employer. Choice. Responsibility. Humorously, he actually writes in the column

There is nothing secret about Senator McCain’s far-reaching proposals, but they haven’t gotten much attention because the chatter in this campaign has mostly been about nonsense — lipstick, celebrities and “Drill, baby, drill!”

It’s apparently nonsense in the Manhattan cocktail party circuit to talk about going and getting our own energy. Then they get in their limo’s.

But, anyhow, Bob, Barry Obama’s main focal point in attacking McCain is multiple commercials saying that McCain=Bush. He has one which whines about McCain’s ties to lobbyists. No mention of the ties B.O.’s running mate has to lobbyists, including his own son (who supposedly got out of the business recently.) Barry attempted to smear McCain for not being an email and Internet user, Bob. Is that an important issue?

The Barry campaign, along with elected Democrats and democrat operatives, have tried to make hay about McCain’s age and having had cancer. Are those important, or nonsense, Bob? One of those groups has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Obama, Bob.

The Barry camp, along with a compliant and complicit media has looked for massive personal dirt on Sarah Palin, Bob. That would be exactly the type of nonsense you are referring to.

It’s kinda hard to have a substantive debate on the issues, Bob, when Barry refueses to engage in anything other then acting like a modern day Messiah. McCain offered multiple times to debate Barry many, many times. Barry ran away like a little girl who got mud on her fancy party dress.

Go talk to your man-crush, Bob, and ask him if he would like to really debate and deal with the big issues. Maybe he would like to discuss how things are going very well in Iraq, and how he was completely against the surge, instead, preferring to walk away like a bad dating experiment.

Or, perhaps, we could discuss how Barry wants to nationalize a sizable chunk of healthcare, making our system as piss poor as it is in Canada, England, France, and Germany, Bob. How’s that sound?

Lipstick, Sex Ed, And The World Wants Barry

By now, I am sure that you have heard the Barry lipstick gaffe

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin’s new “change” mantra.

“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”

“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”

“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”

Was Barry calling Palin a pig? Only Barry knows for sure, everyone else is just guessing. The way I see it is (means I am guessing, too), Barry used the line, based on Palin’s joke “How can you tell the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.” as a way of making fun of the line, insulting the McCain camps call that they are the real change in this campaign, and taking a personal shot at Palin. And then he could sit back and say “hey! I wasn’t talking about Palin, but y’alls policies! You people are nuts!” But, in politics, perception is paramount. How the heck does Barry think he got the Democrat nod? Sure wasn’t because of his stellar political record.

Regardless, Barry, most people know a veiled personal smear when they hear one. The Palinator is driving even Barry bat-sh*t crazy. Maybe we should let Palin debate Barry one on one once. See who’s got the gravitas.

Many on the Left are having their standard hissy fit over the McCain claim, and video, that Obama wants to force kindergardeners to have sex education. Sites such as TPM, Huffington Post, and Pam’s House Blend. The ad states

Obama’s one accomplishment? Legislation to teach “comprehensive sex education” to kindergartners. Learning about sex before learning to read?

The Barry Camp, and their Internet palls, are claiming that is not what the legislation was about. Really?

The criticism of Obama on sex education stems from his work in the Illinois state senate on legislation which would have taken the state’s entire sex education standards, which related to 6th through 12th grade, and applied them to all of K-12.

And, yes, parents would be able to opt out. But, why even offer sex ed to children that young? What kind of disturbed mind even considers that sex ed classes are appropriate for children that young? Well, disturbed minds on the Left. Basic sex ed shouldn’t even be taught till about the 7th grade, as kids are coming in to their sexual changes.

“But it’s the right thing to do,” Obama continued, “to provide age-appropriate sex education, science-based sex education in schools.”

What does Barry consider “age-appropriate” for 5 year olds?

And for the unhinged, spittle laced world view screed, Jonathan Freedland at the Guardian (the same paper that featured Charlie Brooker calling for Dubya’s assassination if he won in 2004) is the “man” of the hour

(Headline) The world’s verdict will be harsh if the US rejects the man it yearns for

An America that disdains Obama for his global support risks turning current anti-Bush feeling into something far worse (end headline)

Of course I know that even to mention Obama’s support around the world is to hurt him. Incredibly, that large Berlin crowd damaged Obama at home, branding him the “candidate of Europe” and making him seem less of a patriotic American. But what does that say about today’s America, that the world’s esteem is now unwanted? If Americans reject Obama, they will be sending the clearest possible message to the rest of us - and, make no mistake, we shall hear it.

No, really, he is serious. As I am sure many progressives around the world are about Barry. And, they are exposing exactly why Barack H. Obama is unqualified to be president of the United States of America, namely, because it is the most powerful position in the world, and we do not need a barely done nothin’ but write a few memoirs guy in the Oval office.

On The McCain Bump-50 States

Not to be the enthusiasm vampire (a saying we picked up in a sales management seminar-pretty much the only thing*), but, McCain may be leading in the Gallup/UselessA Today poll 54-44, and in other polls, but, as we go down the final stretch, remember that the polls are national polls, and have little bearing on the actual election results. What it comes down to is the electoral votes, as you all know, and I bet many of the Direct Democracy libs are abandoning their cherished DD in favor of the current models, based on State polling data going back anywhere from September 2 to late July. (all data via Electoral Vote)

Right now, Barry leads 301-224, with 13 electoral votes for Virginia up for grabs with a dead heat. Right now, McCain is losing in several States that Bush won (Bush-Kerry in parentheses)

  • Nevada B47-M45 (B51-K48)
  • New Mexico is a butt woopin’ at the moment B50-M41 (B50-K49) New Mexico has tended to go Dem, BTW
  • Colorado B45-M43 (B52-K47)
  • North Dakota B43-M40 (B63-K36, so, lots of work to do in ND)
  • Indiana B55-M40. Real bad there (B50-K49)
  • Ohio B47-M45 (B51-K49)

There are also a few states, such as Montana, South Dakota, North Carolina, and Indiana where it is a bit close for comfort in what should be easy states for McCain. And, with Virginia, where it is tied, and Republicans have killed Dems in 3 of the last 4 elections.

It is also a little close in Florida, M46-B45.

Interestingly, McCain is only 5 out in Pa, and 8 out in New York. The GOP has been crushed in NY in the last 4 elections. 9 out in NJ. 7 in Oregon. 5 in Wisconsin and Michigan, but, doubt that will change anywhere to a win. NJ and NY, doubtful as well.

Unfortunately, the last data for Delaware was in February. Alaska is, as usual, solidly GOP. Go figure.

McCain needs to pick back up all those states Bush won, or substitute Pa or Oregon. And he needs Florida.

There is still some good time, and, we need to see what the Palin effect brings on, especially with some of the states that haven’t had polls since Palin made her speech, and over the past few weeks.

Another big factor will be the youth vote, which often fails to show up. Then we have the debates. Time will tell.

And yet another factor will be if Barry realizes that he is running against John McCain, not Sarah Palin.

Of course, if McCain loses, Republicans will be disappointed, but, will go on with their lives. If Obama lose, if you thought you saw bat-sh*t crazy over the past 4 years, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Even The San Francisco Chronicle Likes Sarah Barracuda

They do not have any bikini picks of Sarah Palin (cheap traffic bait phrase), but, this article reads more like those from other countries about her, which treat her with respect, rather then the batsh*t crazy unhinged sexist we have been getting in most of the American Credentialed Media. SF Gate: Palin Floats Like a Butterfly, Stings Like a Bee

The Democrats are in trouble. Sarah Palin has totally changed the dynamics of this campaign.

Period.

Palin’s speech to the GOP National Convention on Wednesday has set it up so that the Republicans are now on offense and Democrats are on defense. And we don’t do well on defense.

Suddenly, Palin and John McCain are the mavericks and Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the status quo, in a year when you don’t want to be seen as defending the status quo.

From taxes to oil drilling, Democrats are now going to have to start explaining their positions.

Whenever you start having to explain things, you’re on defense.

Exactly. And all those in the Nutroots are whining about Palin not going on the news shows while Barry was scared to go on Fox for 19 months, Biden is still avoiding Fox, and when they show up on the other shows, they are given softball questions like “why isn’t Sarah on Meet The Press?”

Willie Brown, who wrote the story for the SF Chronicle, continues

She didn’t have to prove she was “of the people.” She really is the people.

She is. She has the story of a regular person, rather then some crazy “hey, I was a community organizer, and I am qualified to be president because I have been running for president. Oh, ignore that I have never done anything in any office, never taken any chances, just been a good party foot soldier” story.

And remember, the Palin bandwagon needs to roll for only two months.

You know one of the reasons average people love Palin? Because she was not the safe pick (like Biden!). She was exotic, politically speaking. Picking her was saying “you know what? Screw England, we want to be our own country” and “yeah, we could let the Confederacy go, but, damn, we are one country” and “yeah, Hitler is no real threat to us, but, we can’t let Europe go down.” She wasn’t the safe pick, like a guy who has been sitting in the Senate voting with the Democrat majority and the liberal base 94% of the time, making him the 3rd most liberal Senator in 2007.

Americans like challenges. Americans like when people take chances. Americans like to be ahead of the curve. They don’t like to play it safe.

Obama Launches Pro-Baby Killing Attack Ad Against McCain

This is disgustingly humorous. A guy who will never be in the position himself but is the #1 supporter of all approved baby killing methods, including if a baby lives through an abortion, is attacking McCain for not wanting to kill babies (The Politico)

Barack Obama has launched a broadside against John McCain’s opposition to abortion rights and moved one of the most divisive issues in modern American politics to the airwaves on a large scale for the first time in this presidential campaign.

Obama’s new radio ad, airing widely in at least seven swing states, tells voters McCain “will make abortion illegal.” It’s airing as McCain courts female voters with the addition of the staunchly anti-abortion governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, to his ticket.

“Let me tell you: If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That’s why this election is so important,” says the nurse-practitioner who narrates Obama’s ad. “John McCain’s out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose. That’s what women need to understand. That’s how high the stakes are.”

An announcer then claims that “as president, John McCain will make abortion illegal,” before playing an exchange on “Meet the Press” in which McCain told moderator Tim Russert that he favors “a constitutional amendment to ban all abortions.”

“We can’t let John McCain take away our right to choose. We can’t let him take us back,” says the ad.

Obama is addressing the 2nd Tenent of the Democrat Holy Script, Thou Shall Always Support Abortion Choice. The first being, of course, Though Shall Do Anything To Gain Power. The guy is much farther to the left then even Barbara Boxer on abortion, an issue that doesn’t appear in the Constitution. Yet, Barry has issues with private ownership of guns and the freedom to broadcast (Conservatively) on the radio, issues that do appear in the Constitution. Go figure.

I rarely get involved in the abortion issues, excepting for late term and parental notification, but, come on, this is the issu Barry wants to engage in? Baby killing? This is red meat for the hard core lefties, but, not something most Americans really want to discuss or hear about.

Alas, a blog, bites in to the red meat

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes. Standing up for abortion rights — really standing up for them, not just hinting at that stance — is an electoral winner, especially given that many of McCain’s female supporters do indeed think he’s a pro-choicer. His selection of Palin should put that to rest, but ads focusing on it should do so even more.

Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes. Standing up for abortions rights but not our troops, standing up free-range talks with America’s enemies, they are all winning issues with Americans. I think that sometimes, within the confines of political think, we forget that most people do not want to discuss baby killing. Next time you are at a gathering, try and bring the subject up in terms of politics. See how fast people try and change the subject, and failing that, walk away.

What The Palin Pick Means

All sorts of analysis has been made of the pick of Sarah Palin. The Politico gets close with their 6 things the Palin pick says about McCain. But, really, everything is secondary to one simple concept: McCain understood that the base would be ignited, would be thrilled, would be pumped up, excited, engrossed, and fired up about a pick of a good Conservative like Palin.

In my 4 years of blogging, and all my years following the Presidential elections, I have never seen the base so excited. Sure, they were pumped to go vote in 2004, but, how much of that was because they liked Bush and wanted to see Waffles Kerry defeated? Most of us barely approved of Bush’s policies, beyond a few basic ones.

McCain? Well, he seems a nice chap, willing to fight back. He’s for low taxes COUPLED with reduced spending. He’s strong on defense. He’s sorta OK on energy. He detests pork. He does what he thinks is right, not necessarily what it is politically expedient. He thinks we should have border security, but, that is somewhat offset by his stance on illegal immigration. Sometimes he gets a little too cozy with Democrats, but, he typically has the best interest of the country, not the Party, in mind. He has a lifetime Conservative rating of 82.3. He is pro-life.

Is he the best Conservative out there? No. His record puts him on the low end of Conservatives. He fits the bill well for me, as my main concerns are national security, low taxes, reduced spending, limited government, ethical government, States Rights, and, over the past 7 years, illegal immigration. So, he fits the bill.

Palin, though, oh, Palin (how does one make heart icons?)……she fits all the measures that todays conservatives are looking for, plus, she is young, dynamic, attractive, and, real. She is a real person, not a staged politician. A person who fits Real Life. The only thing we do not know about her is her stance on illegal immigration, which wasn’t much of a deal in Alaska, except for the moose wandering over from Canada. Staunchly pro-life. A mother who cares about her kids. For low taxes. Doesn’t let people push her around. She’s not part of a “group,” but, her own person. Massively pro-2nd Amendment.

She is a real reformer, and not afraid to take people on, even in her own party. Good for her. 5 kids, a real working husband who she calls the “First Dude.” And she brings mega-excitement. If you are a conservative, and you weren’t excited like Ralphie on Christmas morning, we need to check your blood pressure and make sure someone hasn’t been slipping you Prozac. And, how can you not get excited by this?

Sarah Palin is John McCain’s Vice Presidential Pick!

There’s a ton of speculation today that Sarah Palin has been picked as McCain’s running mate. Read about it below and see photos and a video of Palin below.

Sarah Palin

Official Portrait

We will know who John McCain has picked as his running mate around noon today. But the speculation has been heavy that it is Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. This would be a bold choice, but then McCain is a bold man.

The reason for the speculation is that Palin has been on McCain’s short list all along. A private plane was dispatched to Alaska last night. It left Anchorage, Alaska and landed in Dayton, Ohio. A woman was seen disembarking the plane with two men, one a teenage boy. As everyone know, Palin has a teenage son.

We also know that other probably VEEP picks have been eliminated. Most notably, both Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney and Joe Lieberman all of whom have been alternatively speculated to be the vice presidential picks over the last few days.

Sarah Palin is definitely not a Washington insider, she has a 90% approval rating in her home state of Alaska, she ran on cleaning up corruption. She has solid conservative credentials, has executive experience as the Governor of Alaska. She has five children, her youngest just born five months ago. She is a strong supporter of our Troops.

We’ll find out who will be our next Vice President shortly. Frankly, I’m really excited at the possibility of it being Sarah Palin!

John McCain Has Picked His Running Mate

John McCain has picked his running mate and we here at McCain Blogs are anxious to find out just who it will be. Read more below.

John McCain

The top picks at this point are Sarah Palin (my personal favorite), Carly Fiorina, Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty. Here are bios of Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney’s wife, Ann Romney and Tim Pawlenty’s wife Mary Pawlenty.

Other potential vice-presidential candidates have taken themselves out of the running. Kay Bailey Hutchinson has stated she’s not been asked and doesn’t want the job. Bobby Jindal took himself out of the running a while back stating he wants to keep the job he has.

The names of Joe Lieberman and Tom Ridge have both been floated out, but both are thought to have issues that wouldn’t go over well with the conservative base. They are not likely picks.

Of course, there’s always the chance that our favorite maverick could do something totally unexpected and pick someone no one sees coming. I almost hope he does. He does have the freedom at this point to pick a bit of a risky running mate.

There have been rumors that Romney has been assigned a secret service detail - but that’s just a rumor. Pawlenty has canceled appointments for today and tomorrow. So anticipation is growing.

McCain will make his announcement in Ohio tomorrow (if it doesn’t leak out just in time to compete for news coverage with the Obama speech). Several of the potential picks are now making their way, with their families, to Ohio.

We’re keeping an eye on it and will let you know just as soon as we know.
