McCain Looking At Gov. Sarah Palin?

From Wizbang

A tipster sent us word that John McCain’s VP advance man Arthur Culvahousehas been spotted in Juneau, Alaska. There’s only one reason he would be there - to meet with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin about the Vice President position.

Both Kevin and Allahpundit think she would make a pretty good candidate. Add me to that list. Though she has a short track record as Alaska’s governor, heck, a short track record period, she has the highest approval ratings of any governor serving today, sitting in the 80’s, she favors drilling and pumping in Alaska, she is pro-life (not that that is a huge issue with me. For others, it is), for the death penalty, supports the 2nd Amendment, is for lowering taxes (she despises “nuisance” taxes), and, though she is an environmentalist (as am I), she has the gumption to stand up to the enviro-wacko’s.

She is also, unfortunately, a believer in global warming ala McCain. Oh, well, can’t agree with everyone 100%.

On an electability note, she is young, pretty, and female. That might seem rather misogynist and obnoxious, but, remember, this is politics. Things like that matter. It helps the ticket. Politics can be an ugly game. If McCain picks Mitt Romney, you know that part of that will be based on Mitt’s looks and vigor. And hair, can’t forget the hair!

Pelosi Vows To Keep Convention Civil!

Of course, she has vowed quite a few things, almost none which have come to pass, so, pull out the salt shaker for this one

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she will step in if necessary to make sure the presidential nomination fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama does not reach the Democratic National Convention - though she believes it could be resolved as early as next week.

Um, sure, OK.

Despite the prolonged and often divisive primary process, Pelosi said it has been “a very positive experience” for the Democratic Party because of “millions of people who are attracted to this campaign, … Hillary and her message, and the same thing for Barack Obama and his appeal.”

At least she acknowledges that Obama pretty much has nothing else. Check this post by Ed Morrissey, which highlights the Washington Post noticing the lack of substance from the Messiah.

Vets for Freedom Challenge Obama to Meet with Petraeus

Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) has told the world that he will meet with the enemies of the United States, but he won’t meet with our Troops or with General Petraeus. Read more below and see video.

Vets for Freedom - Video

The Vets for Freedom have put out the two ads included here. The press release below explains more about the video about in which Sgt. Garrett Anderson, a constituent of Obama’s was unable to get any of Obama’s time.

1) Senator Obama has never met, one-on-one, with the Commander in Iraq, General David Petraeus.

2) Senator Obama has not visited Iraq, and our brave troops on the ground, in over two years. His last visit to Iraq was January 2006, and he was there for less than two days.

3) On April 8, when two-dozen Illinois veterans went to his office for a meeting, Senator Obama was unwilling to meet with them. He was in the office, just wouldn’t come out. Sergeant Anderson was a member of that group.

I’m thinking that their mistake was probably that they didn’t have a donation to make to his presidential run, this had to do with his job as a Senator rather than having to do with his hoped-for job as President and Sgt. Anderson was just a typical white guy who Obama didn’t owe any political favors to. There was no chance this dude was going to get in to see The Obamessiah!

Here is the Vets for Freedom’s second ad.

Vets for Freedom - Video

Obama is so out of his depth. He didn’t have the guts to stick to his stance on his lapel pin, he won’t have the guts to stick by his stance on not meeting with the Troops and Petraeus. I’m setting my stop watch for how long it takes him to cave in to the pressure …. 5 …. 4 …. 3 …. 2 …..

Obama To Scrutinize Bush Laws For Constitutionality

Barack NMN Obama is now doing some serious pandering to the Nutroots and Bush haters

Maybe it’s his background teaching constitutional law.

If elected president, Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama said one of the first things he wants to do is ensure the constitutionality of all the laws and executive orders passed while Republican President George W. Bush has been in office.

Those that don’t pass muster will be overturned, he said.

This is nothing more then, as mentioned, pure pandering to the BDS crowd. If Obama cared so much about the constitutionality of our laws, then he should implement Neal Boortz’s idea of putting together a 10th Amendment review committee, who would take 2 years and go through the federal laws, and tell us all the ones that violate the 10th Amendment, then repeal those laws. OF course he won’t, because that would reduce Obama’s power, and that is the last thing any Democrat wants.

My second though when reading the story was “well, where the F have you been during your long, illustrious Senatorial career, Mr. Obama, in standing up to what you apparently perceive as un-constitutional laws?” Rather then pontificate myself, let’s see what commenter kdurham68 wrote

Mr. Obama, I must ask you two questions:

1) As you are and have been a member of the United States Senate for the last four years, I would have expected you would have evaluated any legislation during that time period to insure you were helping to pass only laws which are constitutional. Do you, therefore, only intend to review laws from before you were a member of the Senate for Constitutionality or are those laws enacted since you took office also planned for review? If the former, please explain why you failed to take the time while you were in the Senate to review what your predecessors had done. If the latter, please explain why you were lax in carrying out your duties as a US Senator?

2) Since you have indicated it is your intention, if elected, to meet with your Attorney General to review existing legislation and overturn that which you consider unconstitutional, I must ask you to please identify precisely what power granted by the Constitution to the office of the Presidency allows such a unilateral action on your behalf? Do you believe that you are not personally subject to the US Constitution? The Separation of Powers given by that historic and monumental document does not allow the President to subsume the functions of the courts and the judiciary.

Good questions, very good questions.

As a sidebar, Obama also says that, in his first 100 days, he will do a few other things, including putting together an exit plan for Iraq. Huh? Mr. Hope and Change, who has bloviated against Operation Iraqi Freedom for years, and knew he was going to run for president, has not plan?

Obama Willing To Meet Ahmadenijad But Not Patraeus?

From the Campaign Spot

Obama spokesman Bill Burton, responding to John McCain’s suggestion that both he and Obama take a trip to Iraq in the near future:

“John McCain’s proposal is nothing more than a political stunt, and we don’t need any more ‘Mission Accomplished’ banners or walks through Baghdad markets to know that Iraq’s leaders have not made the political progress that was the stated purpose of the surge. The American people don’t want any more false promises of progress, they deserve a real debate about a war that has overstretched our military, and cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer.”

You know what is intriguingly missing from that answer? Any indication that Obama will return to Iraq before Election Day.

He’s probably just too darn busy making gaffe’s.

What Do Dems Really Think About Southerners?

Kosbats: McCain’s Cancer Returns

Is this the kind of dialogue that Obama wants? (via Little Green Footballs)

[Breaking]: McCain cheek cancer returns by catspaw

Presidential hopeful John McCain had been pretty secretive about his medical records, no wonder, his cancer has returned in a really horrible form:

McCain cancer

The tumor now talks, though unintelligibly, about not playing golf instead of letting men and women in uniform get time off from the war at home; it whispers things like, “Soldiers don’t deserve to get help with their education through Sen. Webb’s GI bill because they’re not members of Blackwater or Halliburton subsidiaries.”

[Update] I have no qualms in doing this diary because of this:

Yammer, yammer, yammer.

Charles writes: Commenters are all appalled, of course. But somehow these hateful diaries just keep appearing, day after day, year after year.

I wonder if this diary will disappear into the memory hole like so many others. Meanwhile, notice that you never see liberals doing an excerpt of a hateful post the way Conservatives do day in, day out.
