Afghanistan And Iraqi Wars Veterans Too “Political”

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Left, where members of the military, once considered hero’s, are now just too damned political

A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan won’t be stopping at Forest Lake Area High School today as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit.

Steve Massey, the school principal, said the decision to cancel was prompted by concerns that the event was becoming political rather than educational and therefore was not suitable for a public school.

What was going on?

He said the school had received several phone calls from parents and others, some of whom indicated that they may stage a protest if the event took place

“The event was structured to be an academic classroom discussion around military service. We thought we’d provide an opportunity for kids to learn about service in the context of our history classes,” Massey said. “As the day progressed, it became clear that this was becoming a political event … which would be inappropriate in a public setting.

Massey has a point, but, notice that it would have been the liberal/progressive/Surrender Monkey crew that was making it political. Apparently, they just cannot stand to have any of the brave men and women who serve, which gives these leftists the ability to protest, a forum to discuss the military, what has always been, for the most part, a very honorable occupation. But not in the eyes of the left, as we have all seen time and time again.

Still and all, Massey should have told the protesters what to stick where the sun don’t shine (no, I am not discussing the Leftists version of the truth) and let the soldiers have their day, and let the kids meet real men and women, as opposed to the limp wristed piss ants on the left.

Bluto at The Jawa Report: Lesson for the kids to take home: Political correctness trumps the Constitution. Extra credit: The principal is a whining girlyman.

Dan Riehl takes a look at Masey’s background. Girlyman

Michelle Malkin has multiple articles on the subject, and Hot Air has audio.

The piece de resistance comes from Blackfive, though:

Apparently the left doesn’t have any heroes, they believe that anyone in or out of uniform who is not protesting or telling tales of atrocities reminiscent of Jenjis Khan, is simply a tool of the vast right-wing conspiracy. In the La La land inhabited by the liberals in Minneapolis the voices of our heroes cannot be heard unless countered by the progressive voices of the anti-war crowd, and even then they are not suitable for High School children. I mean God forbid they gain a positive view of our military or hear that brave deeds have been done in support of Bush’s illegal war.

Powerline: The Forest Lake principal said there had been complaints from “parents and others.” Apparently the “others” are denizens of the Democratic Underground fever swamp. It would be interesting to know how many of those who objected to the veterans were “others” rather than parents.
