McCain Looking At Gov. Sarah Palin?

From Wizbang

A tipster sent us word that John McCain’s VP advance man Arthur Culvahousehas been spotted in Juneau, Alaska. There’s only one reason he would be there - to meet with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin about the Vice President position.

Both Kevin and Allahpundit think she would make a pretty good candidate. Add me to that list. Though she has a short track record as Alaska’s governor, heck, a short track record period, she has the highest approval ratings of any governor serving today, sitting in the 80’s, she favors drilling and pumping in Alaska, she is pro-life (not that that is a huge issue with me. For others, it is), for the death penalty, supports the 2nd Amendment, is for lowering taxes (she despises “nuisance” taxes), and, though she is an environmentalist (as am I), she has the gumption to stand up to the enviro-wacko’s.

She is also, unfortunately, a believer in global warming ala McCain. Oh, well, can’t agree with everyone 100%.

On an electability note, she is young, pretty, and female. That might seem rather misogynist and obnoxious, but, remember, this is politics. Things like that matter. It helps the ticket. Politics can be an ugly game. If McCain picks Mitt Romney, you know that part of that will be based on Mitt’s looks and vigor. And hair, can’t forget the hair!

Can’t say I agree with ALL of those picks, but whatever. ;-)

GOP “VP Madness” at Congressional Quarterly

From Congressional Quarterly, vice-presidential pick brackets for politics geeks! :D

Who should be John McCain’s running mate? In our own version of the March Madness brackets, our team of political experts selected 32 possible nominees. We took into account many of the factors McCain will likely consider, such as national prominence, geographical and ideological balance, fundraising prowess, political strengths and fatal flaws. Now it’s up to you to decide who will advance to face each other in the next round. The winner will be revealed May 22. You’ll have a chance to weigh in on the Democratic ticket once the nominee is set.

Click to fill out a bracket, and you can also see how they came up with the picks (video).

UPDATE: If you can’t get enough of the speculation about McCain’s VP pick (which I can’t imagine will come before the Dems pick theirs), you can follow all the buzz at VP Watch, a blog run by the Club for Growth. Here’s a VP poll at ABC News found at VP Watch.
