The agency began wrapping the fence that surrounds the 16-acre site with vinyl mesh Sunday.
The fence wrapping will have renderings of some of the buildings being constructed at the site, like the Freedom Tower and the World Trade Center Transit Hub and it will provide information about construction progress.
Oh, good, visuals of the buidlings. It’s seven years later: how about having the actual buildings?
“A lot of tourists come down here, they don’t understand what will happen here,” said Community Board 1 member Catherine McVay Hughes. “They know there have been a lot of controversies, a lot of stories, but they want to see what is actually happening. And those photographs will let people know what is happening at the site.”
A lot of us would like to know that there is actually progress, seven years later. Which there is. Some. A bit. Including a plan to make it green.
There is a “dearth” of high-ranking Muslim police officers (Note: this is in England) and they are “largely absent” from specialist units like counter-terrorism, a report said today.
Progress in diversity in forces is also too slow and urgent changes are needed to rectify the situation, the survey says.
Imagine. Few Muslims dealing with the problem that is mostly the problem caused by their fellow Muslims. Maybe Muslims do not want to be in counter-terrorism. Maybe Muslims haven’t been on the police forces long enough to be high ranking officers. But, I wonder who took the survey
The study carried out by the National Association of Muslim Police (Namp) and Demos found that only 27 Muslim officers worked in counter-terrorism out of a UK total of 2,374.
In other news, I understand that the National Fox Association is complaining that there are not enough foxes guarding henhouses.

Did anyone out there catch the halftime report on NBC during the Redskins-Dallas game? Bubblehead Meredith provided possibly one of the most irresponsible climate change reports of all time. I wish I could find the video, but, she claimed that the seas will rise 200 feet, that climate change has dried up all the water in Australia, and that the snows and glaciers are melting on Mt. Kilimanjaro because of climate change. Even the most irresponsible anthropogenic global warming sucker (Al Gore) wouldn’t make the claim about 200 feet of sea height change. The UN IPCC, a hysterical document in itself, only claims a few inches.
As far as the water in Australia, the temps have been flat for 10 years. And, if the glaciers are all melting, wouldn’t that mean more water? The data shows that it was much wetter during the Global Climate Optimum, and drier during the Little Ice Age. Hmmmm.
Mt. Kilamanjaro? No, not global warming. In fact, the problem is warm air flowing up the mountain because of clear cutting.
Now, I am not against “going green.” Being responsible about the environment is a good thing. But, consider that when they say “go green,” they mean “climate change.” And NBC is going and changing their icons and logos and whatnot green. They started during Sunday Night Football. Then they proceeded to show us dozens of commercials featuring low mileage vehicles. Super!
Going Greenis not “walking to work.” It’s not “no longer driving, no taxis, taking mass transit.” It is not “washing in cold water to save energy.” It’s not “driving a hybrid.” Though, I will give props to Keith Olbermann, as painful as that is, for drinking filtered tap water and reducing the number of plastic bottles. That reduces pollution and landfill size. If you want to do it to save some energy, great, but, what they mean is global warming, not saving resources.
As far as Peter King and eating organic, that may be considered green, but, it is not necessarily healthy, as it is many of those chemicals, which are environmentally safe, which guard the veggies from disease. But, at least he doesn’t go idiot with travel mode.
You want to go green? Don’t litter. Plant some plants and/or trees. Save the rainforests. Save some species. Stop including AGW as going green. Let real environmental issues stand on their own, rather then making them all about AGW.

Perhaps some of the climahysterics can explain how this occurred
A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore’s chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record.
This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China’s official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its “worst snowstorm ever”. In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years.
So what explained the anomaly? GISS’s computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.
The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs - run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious “hockey stick” graph - GISS began hastily revising its figures. This only made the confusion worse because, to compensate for the lowered temperatures in Russia, GISS claimed to have discovered a new “hotspot” in the Arctic - in a month when satellite images were showing Arctic sea-ice recovering so fast from its summer melt that three weeks ago it was 30 per cent more extensive than at the same time last year.
This is what the Climahysterics call science. Cooking the books. Falsifying the data. Making it up as they go. And NASA is not the only ones. The UN IPCC recently came up with some wonky data to continue their Chicken Littleism, “Despite no global warming in 10 years and recording setting cold in 2007-2008…”
Don’t forget these two quotes from Al Gore, who is, of course, one of the main leaders in the AGW movement
“In the United States of America, unfortunately we still live in a bubble of unreality. And the Category 5 denial is an enormous obstacle to any discussion of solutions. Nobody is interested in solutions if they don’t think there’s a problem. Given that starting point, I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis.”
“When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts. When you have the law on your side, argue the law. When you have neither, holler. “
The AGW crowd in a nutshell. Also, add in that they rarely practice what they preach. Like tax increases, that is always for the other guy/gal.

Everyone is asking “WWBD?” as of late. What Will Barry Do? is obviously of importance, considering all the hopiness and changiness that Barry promised to the weak minded dupes who never thought to inquire why they were serving on something called a “Death Star.” Patterico solicited ideas on this the other day, and there were some pretty good answers.
Some policy decisions are pretty simple
He will appoint massively far left Progressive judges whose ideas on abortion on demand match his
He will reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine through the FCC, thereby avoiding a rather simplistic lawsuit based on the 1st Amendment (Congress shall pass no law). I have read that some recommend using the 9th and 10th if this occurs
He will increase the redeployment of troops from Iraq ahead of what is safe
He’ll send a token force of maybe a couple thousand troops to Afghanistan
He won’t get involved in Iran, because the EU nations who have been negotiating will tell him to piss off
He’ll get his basketball court installed
Other then that, I do not expect him to actually get much of his legislation passed. I doubt much of it will even make it to committee. The Nancy Pelosi/Harry Reid led Congress has their own agenda, and if happens to coincide with President Obama’s, so be it. But, do not expect much legislation to get actually passed. This is a legislative body which couldn’t even pass a resolutionexpressing sympathy for the residents of Greensburg, Ks, after the massive tornado, nor one expressing support of the goals and ideals of Mother’s Day, without first sending simplistic legislation like that to committee. It took them months to pass the Greensburg resolution. The Mother’s Day one never did. So, what do they do in 2009?
A total repeal of the 2001/2003 tax cuts. The bill that does this will expand the number of people in the lower classes who do not pay any income tax. Barry is forced to sign. This will happen by mid February
Repeal of tax breaks on energy companies, particularly oil companies. By mid February.
Backdoor legislation increasing corporate taxes
more bailouts as Democrat policies damage the economy even more
Passing the card check legislation for unions
Re-instituting the ban on offshore drilling. Mid February
They’ll get around to nationalized health care and/or insurance by summer, but, will not do anything till near the winter holidays, when people aren’t watching
massively reducing appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, intelligence agencies, and measures for the international portion of the war on terrorism. By June
Passing legislation allowing the telecoms to be sued over the “domestic wiretapping”
Papercut legislation on handguns will start, then they will wait for a major incident to occur before passing sweeping legislation that restricts all guns
Climate change legislation
They’ll throw a sop to Obama in the form of passing his Global Poverty Act, but, will fail to fund it, and perhaps pass his $500/$1,000 tax rebate-welfare check idea
Investigation after investigation into the Bush admin
Legislation closing G’itmo and ending the military trials
As far as it goes, I believe the Congress will have about as cozy a relationship with Obama as they did with Bush. They will do what they want to do, not what Obama wants them to do. He may want to appear centrist during his first year, but, what he will look like will be a dupe of Congress. They will be passing legislation that he really wants, but didn’t want to go for so quick.

Defend Liberty
An Allegory to Liberty
Do you remember The Liberty Tree and the story that surrounds it? There was an old elm tree that stood in Boston Commons in the days before the American Revolution. It was a beautiful old tree that became a real rallying point – a symbol really - for the growing resistance to the rule of England over the feisty American colonies. Called ‘The Liberty Tree,’ it was often decorated with banners and lanterns by ‘the resisters’ and used in communicating their secret messages to each other. Their meetings were regularly held there to express views against the Crown and to vent frustrated emotions.
When the news of The Liberty Tree spread throughout the colonies, local patriots in each of the 13 colonies formed a ‘Sons of Liberty’ group (or network of sorts) and identified a large tree to be used as a meeting place. In those times, holding an unauthorized assembly was really dangerous business that carried threats of imprisonment or death so the usual places to plot and plan were out of the question. But, the casual appearance of a group chatting beneath a tree seemed much, much safer!
As resistance to the British grew, flags bearing a representation of The Liberty Tree were flown to symbolize the unwavering spirit of liberty itself. These flags were later a common sight during the battles of the American Revolution.
The British made The Liberty Tree an object of great ridicule and scorn. However, the ridicule and scorn were simply ‘just words’ and many from that day forward said it was under The Liberty Tree that America was born, giving its sons and daughters a legacy of liberty.
Liberty is Under Attack
Today, our country faces a threat from abroad and a threat - in the form of ideological conflict - from within. With the coming of a new administration and the promise of a more bloated and opportunistic government, the need for citizens to resist complacency and to let their voices be heard, has led to a rekindling of the spirit that founded The Sons (and Daughters) of Liberty.
We at Right Pundits have established a network comprised of blogging patriots who understand that it is the duty of each of us to champion the principles of liberty, freedom, an educated engaged citizenry and representative government. Our network is called ‘The Liberty Tree’ and we are asking you to join us!
In becoming a member of The Liberty Tree Network, you will join an informed community of bloggers that, instead of offering nothing but clever yet empty rhetoric, will actively support and promote liberty, civic responsibility, national security, and the American heritage as our Founding Fathers intended.
We will actively work to expose lies and propaganda of incoming administration and the main stream media while being diligent to maintain honor, truthfulness and integrity in our own reporting.
Join The Liberty Tree Network Today!
The Liberty Tree Network uses a feature of feedburner that allows blogs to group their posts together into a common “network feed.” This feed is separate from your normal feedburner feed which remains on your blog. The latest posts from network members will display on all member sites who place the feed on their blog, so for a short time each of your posts will be highly visible across the network. See what the display looks like in the lower right sidebar on this page.
First step is to put the network feed by copying this code to your blog:
Second, Email us at libertytree [at] rightpundits [dot] com and we will send you an invitation to add your own feed into the list. Once you are added to the network, your blog posts will be seen on all the member blogs. You must have a feedburner feed for this to work.
Participation in The Liberty Tree requires that you display the code on your blog, preferably your homepage for the benefit of all members. The code is configured to display the 5 latest posts from the network, but you can choose to increase that number. This will always be the latest posts regardless of who made them.
Those are seven words President-elect Barack Obama is dreading but expecting to hear, friends and advisers say, when he takes office in 65 days.
But before he arrives at the White House, he will probably be forced to sign off. In addition to concerns about e-mail security, he faces the Presidential Records Act, which puts his correspondence in the official record and ultimately up for public review, and the threat of subpoenas. A decision has not been made on whether he could become the first e-mailing president, but aides said that seemed doubtful.
So, when you see Obama having twitches and a strange repeating pattern of reaching for some invisible thing on his belt, now you will know why.
And Crackberry addiction is real. It can make you nuts not having it. Someone made the mistake of hooking theirs up to the PC at work Wed. night, after I had already blown town, and changed the pin by mistake, meaning I got no corporate email since. Personal, yes, but, even on PTO, I like to keep abreast, and wack non-necessary email. Just got home and hooked it up, checked corporate. Shaking has stopped.
A University of California, Berkeley, report released Thursday estimates that $2.5 trillion of California real estate is threatened by climate change.
Real estate and insurance represent the largest sectors at risk from climate change in the state, according to the report. It found that the state has $4 trillion in real estate assets, of which $2.5 million (WT: I assume that is supposed to be “trillion“) are at risk from extreme weather events, sea level rise and wildfires. The projected annual price tag is $300 million to $3.9 billion over this century, depending on how the global temperature rise.
Sigh. Apparently there were no extreme weather events and wildfires in California prior to global warming from SUVs. And the sea level thing has pretty much been a farce. Little proof. Supposition, yes. The sea levels have gone up before during warmer periods, and gone down during colder periods. But even the UN IPCC reports do not go farther then a sea rise of a couple inches. Which has, again, happened before.
Californians should worry instead about environmental policies that increase the severity of the wildfires, because they aren’t allowed to manage the brush, aren’t allowed to clear the dead wood, aren’t allowed to create fire breaks, and aren’t allowed to do proscribed burns, among others.
They should worry about the massive amounts of illegal aliens, quite a few who are criminals. They should worry about the policies that create rolling blackouts. They should worry about the policies that create sky high prices. All liberal policies.
A veteran whose son was killed in the 2000 terrorist attack on the USS Cole has sued officers at the Marine base where he works, saying they violated his free-speech rights to display bumper stickers that link Islam with terrorism on his vehicle.
Jesse Nieto has worked as a civilian at an electrical distribution shop on Camp Lejeune since 1994. He previously served 25 years in the Marine Corps, including two combat tours as an infantryman in Vietnam, according to his federal lawsuit filed Monday in the eastern district of North Carolina.
The lawsuit — which does not seek monetary damages — asks the court to declare that Nieto’s constitutional rights were violated by the Marines and to allow him to express his political viewpoints on federal installations.
I wonder if the NC ACLU or the parent organization will get involved and stand up for Nieto’s Rights? He has been told he would be fired from his job if he didn’t remove the stickers, he has been ticketed, and
In August, Lt. Col. James Hessen, the base’s traffic court officer, ordered Nieto to peel off the anti-Islam decals, the lawsuit said. Nieto did so while a Marine observed. Two weeks later, Hessen ordered Nieto to remove the rest of his decals, including one that said “REMEMBER THE COLE, 12 Oct. 2000,” the lawsuit said. Nieto refused.
Hessen also issued an order barring Nieto from driving his vehicle onto any military installation, which includes his workplace and Arlington National Cemetery, where Nieto’s son is buried, the lawsuit said.
ACLU? Hello?
How do we win the War on Terrorism when the military leadership won’t acknowledge which religion is behind the majority of terrorist acts?

Ah, the policies of sanctuary for young absconders. Aren’t they wonderful?
A teenager accused of stabbing a 14-year-old boy to death in a gang-motivated attack had been given sanctuary from deportation under San Francisco’s previous practice of shielding young illegal immigrant felons from federal authorities, records show.
Rony Aguilera, 17, known as “Guerrillero,” has been charged as an adult in the July 31 sword attack in the Excelsior neighborhood that killed Ivan Miranda, who police say was an innocent victim caught up in an act of gang vengeance. Authorities believe Aguilera is an illegal immigrant from Honduras, but he was never referred to federal officials after being arrested last year in an assault case, according to records reviewed by The Chronicle.
So, not only caught as an illegal, but caught in a violent act. Allowed to remain. Then kills.
Aguilera is also a member of MS-13. The police knew he was a member of one of the most violent gangs in America. And they still let him go, per San Fran policy.
In early July, after The Chronicle reported that the city had shielded dozens of young felons from deportation, City Attorney Dennis Herrera said the sanctuary law did not protect adult or juvenile criminals. Mayor Gavin Newsom declared that he had ordered juvenile justice officials to report illegal immigrant offenders to federal authorities.
Since then, the mayor has pledged a “top-to-bottom” review of the city’s sanctuary policies and practices. His office did not return calls seeking comment Thursday.
I hope the family of Ivan Miranda, the 14 year old killed by Aguilar, sues the pants off of Mayor Newsom and anyone else they can. The policy may be over with, but, with such raging liberals in charge, can we be sure it is?
The Other McCain: It’s very important that rich Democrats in San Francisco have illegal aliens to do their housework, and if the housekeeper’s kids are out gang-banging in the streets while Maria is dusting the antiques, well … that’s just the price you pay for social justice, eh?
