Justice Opens In Baghdad

The Coalition forces and Iraq government bring into light something that was woefully missing during Saddam Hussein’s long rule

Iraq was the first country to introduce laws to the world and now it is important to bring back the rule of law to Iraq,” said Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki at yesterday’s opening of the Rusafa Justice Palace in Baghdad.

With a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Prime Minister Maliki officially opened the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-built $11.3 million new-construction facility. Members of the Higher Judicial Council and judicial members, Coalition forces, security teams and more than 30 international media crowded the central courtroom to overflowing to listen to the Iraqi judicial officers in the Justice Palace.

Prayers from the Koran and a moment of silence in the courtroom for all those judges and judicial workers who have been killed in past years under Saddam and during the turmoil of the past years led off the array of speakers.

Iraqi Chief Justice Medhat referred to the importance of the Justice Palace in establishing the rule of law in Iraq. Medhat gave thanks to the Coalition forces and a special recognition to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the workmanship and diligence.

Could this have happened with Saddam in charge? Could this have happened even pre-surge? They call it the justice center, but, it is more about turning Iraq into a country of law, rather then a county of will.

Guess who supported the Surge and who was for abandoning it to the will of Islamic animals?

  1. Jerry Prado UNITED STATES says:

This concept of a new found Freedom in Iraq is something that the Obama team can not explain or understand. Ever! When a party shamefully blames their own country for the documented benefits that our interventions have historically performed in the interest of saving human lives, then such a party must be discarded in the eyes of real American voters.

Only the Dems, Obama, Hollywood, and extreme foreign leaders support a notion that commands such blame and disrespect for our great nation. These factions all share a common attribute; a short memory.

Our Country is second to none in terms of monetary and intellectual support of all nations that are in need of our aid. Starting in the 1940s when we chose to enter a war where our involvement was also disputed, American leaders chose to liberate Europe while Liberals screamed for non-intervention.

European Nations loved us for a while… Short memories persisted, weak American Democratic leaders conceded, Ronald Regan showed us that only strength is valid when conflict is feared or required.

    In summation,

We have shown the American people the benefits of the Iraq liberation success story. Our troops should be the first to receive our praise and gratitude. The choices made by Bush administration decision makers will be scrutinized and only history will prove them right or wrong.

What is clear is that Senator McCain maintained “hard and strong” positions for, and against Bush policies. He agreed with the surge, disagreed with the Donald Rumsfeld positions, fearlessly presented his plan, and has now been recognized as being “on-target” and completely correct in all his positions. As a reminder, Senator McCain also advised President Regan against deploying Marines to Lebanon. His advise proved to be valid, tragically.

Citizens of Iraq are now free to do whatever they want; dress as they like, attend churches of their choice, vote, women can attend school, they can even protest against our involvement….violently or peacefully. They can do this now without fear of losing their limbs, their lives, the lives of their family..by the hand of Saddam Hussein.

A Democratic position for such a “Blame America First” position should always be considered by Americans at the voting booths while being favored by our foreign “partners”.

Be assured that only a man with the strength, character, and conviction that John McCain owns and demonstrates daily, can lead our nation back to a position of respect. The false and shallow promises of a rookie senator that hides his head in the sand by voting “present” would represent an embarrassment to our strong and proud nation.
