Can You Say Anthing About Barry And Not Have It Be Racist?

surrender monkey elitist

Surrendie wasn’t even sure he should make an appearace today, since, although his is Barry’s #1 fan, and the guy who lays down the talking points for the Democrat Party, he himself, around lots longer then Barry, could be considered racist. On the flip side, Surrendie would like that, because it would show surrender to ad hominum attacks, rather then substance

Georgia Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland used the racially-tinged term “uppity” to describe Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama Thursday.

Westmoreland was discussing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s speech with reporters outside the House chamber and was asked to compare her with Michelle Obama.

“Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they’re a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they’re uppity,” Westmoreland said.

Democrats still think this is the 1950’s and earlier, and just can’t move on. But, everything said about The One with his own presidential seal is racist, ya know!

In August, Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) told reporters, “When I hear the word ‘elitist’ linked with Barack Obama, to me, that is a code word for ‘uppity.’ I find it extremely offensive and John McCain should know better.”

Political consultant David Gergen, who has worked in both Republican and Democratic White Houses, said on ABC’s “This Week” that “As a native of the south, I can tell you, when you see this Charlton Heston ad, ‘The One,’ that’s code for, ‘He’s uppity, he ought to stay in his place.’ Everybody gets that who is from a Southern background.”

So, you may no longer speak of Obama’s Arugula love and worry about its price. You may not talk about the way he talks one way to the bitter, gun and Bible clinging small town folks, and then trashes the rubes behind closed doors in San Fran circles. You may not talk about his multiple seals or the way he keeps his chin snootily in the air.

Actually, how about instead of calling Obama an elitist (which, frankly, isn’t that the way all Dems think of themselves, as better then everyone else because they are a Dem?) which just call him snooty? Nothing racist in that, is there?

SM Friday: Nancy Censors The Troops

surrender monkey pelosi

The Surrender Monkey jumps in the way back machine today, to a time when he put on his pink party dress and visited Queen Nancy on the floor of the House, along with his French cousin Reddition, in light of this new story by the San Francisco Chronicle

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-S.F., has done something worse than commit a crime against the First Amendment. The speaker’s censorship of nonobtrusive posters featuring men and women who gave that last full measure of devotion in service to their country is a blunder that could alienate 23 million veterans and their families from the Democratic Party. If she is endowed with a crumb of constitutional or political sense, she will reverse course.

The tale of Pelosi’s folly begins with Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C. He wished to pay tribute to the service members of Camp Lejeune who had been killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Accordingly, Walter placed a poster flat against the wall in the corridor outside his office showing their names and pictures.

It was altogether fitting that Jones saluted the fallen soldiers on congressional premises. Congress authorized the wars that occasioned their tragic deaths. Congress appropriated the money that dispatched them to mortal danger. The posters communicated to congressional visitors that war is a combination of heroism and hell. Voters would leave with more informed judgments about the costs of the twin wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. There was no tension between Jones’ wall poster and the ordinary use of the House Rayburn Office Building to host direct communications between Members of the House and the public. On one occasion, for instance, a mother from Minnesota entered Jones’ office with tears in her eyes to thank him for displaying the picture of her son who had been killed while serving the nation.

But, Queen Nancy did not like that. She wanted it cleaned up. She told Jones to remove the poster back in July. Now, apparently, she had it forcibly removed at the beginning of August. A poster paying homage to the troops who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Removed. So much for any free speech.

What is so surprising is that it was an article in the San Fran Chronicle. A bastion of far, far liberalism. Of course, the bulk of the writers argument is that she is going to cause Democrats to lose military votes in November. Typical.

SM Friday: The Queen Dismisses Nutroots. With Security

surrender monkey free speech

Surrendie is in ecstasy today, as he has learned from a source that not only did like minded surrender monkeys verbally assault Queen Nancy - and it has been a while since Surrendie was able to discuss her - but, she did something surrender like back. What happened? Nancy was trying to speak about her book (3,178 vs. Obama Nation #2) and

In lieu of the praise one might expect in a room full of women and the ceiling-smashing Nancy Pelosi, insults were hurled towards the stage.

“Traitor!” screamed one woman. “Liar!” shouted another. One man’s high-volume, breakneck rampage got him physically removed from the room. His diatribe, though nearly indecipherable, left Pelosi stone-faced but shaken.

Confronted by a surprising outburst of California’s politically liberal constituency, Pelosi, on a break from her post as the first woman Speaker of the House – the third highest office in the nation – landed at American Jewish University on Aug. 11 to promote her new book, “Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters.” Faced with an acrimonious audience, one of Congress’s most outspoken critics of the Bush administration was lambasted for opposing impeachment proceedings against George W. Bush.

Oh, it got better. Much better

“Who gave you the right to take the constitution and shove it down the toilet? Who gave you the right to take impeachment off the table? Nobody told them to do this,” Thottam shouted at Pelosi moments before Secret Service agents removed him from the packed auditorium and turned him over to officers with the Los Angeles Police Department. “One million Iraqis are dead. Five thousand Americans are dead. You have destroyed the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth and Eighth Amendments.”

She may not have violated the Law of the 1st, regarding free speech and protesting peaceably, but she sure violated the spirit.

This is what happens when elected and empowered Democrats originally pander to the nuttier parts of their base: the nuts will return fire.

SM Friday: House To Do Important Business On In-Flight Calls!

SurrenderMonkey Legislation

This one thrills the Surrender Monkey. Nothing he likes better then when important legislation, such as, oh, allowing American companies to search for new oil sources on American property, is ignored in favor of a feel good measure: In-flight Cell Call Ban Advances in Congress

A bill that would stifle in-flight cellular calls despite emerging technologies that finally make them feasible is headed for the U.S. House of Representatives.

The proposed Halting Airplane Noise to Give Us Peace (HANG UP) Act was approved by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on a voice vote Thursday. It would make permanent the long-standing ban on such calls by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Federal Communications Commission. The next stop for the bill will be the full House, after which companion legislation would also have to be passed by the Senate and signed by President George W. Bush. A companion measure has been introduced as part of an FAA reauthorization measure in the Senate.

Phew! I was worried that the airlines were going to allowed to run their businesses like private citizens for a moment there. Good thing the United States Democrat Party led Congress is there to dictate to them, eh? Surrendie loves when Democrats use the imperial “We” and stifle freedom. And the bill was sponsored by a Democrat, too!

“Polls show the public overwhelmingly doesn’t want to be subjected to people talking on their cell phones on increasingly over-packed airplanes. However, with Internet access just around the corner on U.S. flights, it won’t be long before the ban on voice communications on in-flight planes is lifted,” Peter DeFazio (D-Or)said in a statement. Cash-strapped airlines could end up charging some passengers to use their phones while charging others to sit in a phone-free section of the plane, he said.

The bill, designated H.R. 5788, wouldn’t ban Internet access, e-mail or text-messaging.

Polls also show an overwhelming number of Americans want our oil companies to drill on our property, but Her Royal Majesty Nancy and the Democrats won’t even allow a vote. Even in California, Queen Nancy’s home state, they favor more drilling.

SM Friday: Antiwar Hypocrites

Happy Friday! The Surrender Monkey is thrilled with his buddy Barry’s redeploy to Afghanistan talk, because he knows that sooner or later, the kook fringe surrender base will force the Messiah to change and once again call for cut and run. But, in the meantime, Ralph Peters writes about antiwar hypocrites

AM I the only one who’s noticed the silence? Mere months ago, left-wing bloggers and demonstrators were wailing Support our troops, bring them home! seven days a week.

Now their presidential candidate has announced that he won’t bring all those troops home, but will simply transfer combat forces from Iraq to Afghanistan - expanding that war. (He’s discussed possibly invading Pakistan, too.)

And the left’s quiet as a graveyard at midnight.

Where are the outraged protests from MoveOn or the DailyKos? I thought the extreme left felt sorry for our service members in harm’s way and wanted to reunite them with their families.

What happened?

We all know exactly what happened. The left has nothing against foreign wars (as long as they don’t have to fight in person). They just want to pick our wars themselves.

Also, they don’t really have a problem with wars, as long as the they are clean and neat, because as soon as something goes wrong, they want out. See the actions in Somalia that freaked Billy Jeff out, made him pull the troops out, with the upshot being that Osama Bin Laden called America a paper tiger.

The Left will turn on Obama soon over this, since many do not want want to be in Afghanistan, either. And, to use a port sider talking point, was it not Al Qaeda who attacked us on 9/11? And Barry wants to go after the Taliban. Hum.

Woops! Here come the surrender in Afghanistan folks, who are not happy with Barry.

SM Friday: Goracle - Hey, I’m Still Relevant Here! Hello?

surrender monkey goracle

There are lots of things Surrendie loves: some good brie, French bread, a nice Bordeaux, pre-emptive surrender. One of his others is when a port-sider decides to extend their 15 minutes with some sort of craziness, such as with Cindy Sheehan, Wes Clark, and now, Al Gore. Though, Surrendie is conflicted, as he has never really liked Al, since he smells vaguely of oil and ozone, and refuses to share his food

Former Vice President Al Gore, seeking to shake up an energy debate that is focused mostly on drilling, challenged the United States to shift its entire electricity sector to carbon-free wind, solar and geothermal power within 10 years, and use that power to fuel a new fleet of electric vehicles.

The goal is the most ambitious energy plan by a major U.S. political figure - and one many energy experts say is unrealistic. Gore insists the only real obstacle is the reluctance of America’s leaders to seek bold solutions to high energy prices and global warming. He likened his challenge to President John F. Kennedy’s 1961 call to put a man on the moon.

“Hey, someone pay attention to me! I was the Emperor of the Moon on Futurama, after all! This Obama guy is a flash in the pan!”

You can read his entire speech over at the DotEartblog at the NY Times, where they probably wet their panties, and do not understand that the United States doesn’t really have that many areas that can be tapped in to for geothermal power, and the return on power for solar and wind is low, and requires massive tracts of clear cut land. They are nice as supplemental, but, unrealistic for complete.

Meanwhile, there is a wee bit of a problem regarding Al’s consensus theory (beyond the fact that consensus is not science, of course)

The American Physical Society, an organization representing nearly 50,000 physicists, has reversed its stance on climate change and is now proclaiming that many of its members disbelieve in human-induced global warming. The APS is also sponsoring public debate on the validity of global warming science. The leadership of the society had previously called the evidence for global warming “incontrovertible.”

Uh oh. There’s that word the Goracle hates: debate. Because, damnitall! anthropogenic climate change is real, it is killing us, and, hey, have you thought about buying carbon credits from the company where I am on the board of directors?

Is it any wonder Gore decided not to run for president? Otherwise, well, he would have to debate his wild a**ed ideas.

SM Friday: Obama’s Continuous Nutroots Finger

Surrender Monkey Obama Finger

It seems that every day brings a new “go (blank) yourself” from the Missiah. Yesterday was a whopper, though. First, he wants to refine his Iraq policy from “they are going to pulled out completely in 16 months,” to

My 16-month timeline, if you examine everything that I’ve said, was always premised on making sure that our troops were safe. I said that based on the information that we had received from our commanders that one to two brigades a month could be pulled out safely, from a logistical perspective. My guiding approach continues to be that we’ve got to make sure that our troops are safe and that Iraq is stable. I’m going to continue to gather information to find out whether those conditions still hold.”

So, now he will listen to the commanders on the ground, and, if the situation changes, he will change. That does not make the Nutroots very happy. They want the troops out immediately, not 16 months, and certainly not by listening to the commanders, who might force a longer withdrawl. You can see Obama’s long time consistent position, which does not include talking to commanders, here. I also have a screenshot here, in case that pesky old memory hole jumps up like a sink hole.

As a sidebar to that, Obama talks about “humanitarian relief” for Iraqi’s. If only he was as concerned about the 50K children dying under Saddam’s rule each year, which no longer happens now that Saddam is gone.

The second big GFY from Obama involves the Left’s #1 issue, abortion on demand

Obama: I absolutely can, so please don’t believe the emails. I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that “mental distress” qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions.

Despite the yammering about making abortions “safe and rare,” Liberals/Progressives want anything but. They want an abortion to be preformed at any time and any place. They have no problem with taking a non-parent taking an underage girl across state lines to have an abortion, with no parental notification. They have a problem with parental notification of any abortion. Heck, they do not even like using the word abortion. They have many euphamisms, all designed to make abortion seem to be a minor medical procedure, like taking care of a pesky wart.

Melissa McEwan is pissed!

I just honestly don’t even know what to say. Part of me wants to explore the bloody fucking obvious hypotheticals that make this position totally untenable (e.g. a pregnant woman under such psychological distress that she is a danger to herself and ergo necessarily the fetus), and another part of me just wants to point out how gobsmackingly offensive (and misogynist) this is. (snip)

Certainly his defenders will say he didn’t mean it that way, and of course he didn’t. What he meant is that he doesn’t think all those irresponsible, fickle, ninny-brained straw-women who decide willy-nilly they want abortions in their third trimester shouldn’t be allowed to get one by claiming “mental distress” swoon swan get thee to a fainting couch. He’s breathing life into the damnable lie that there are legions of women who seek out late-term abortions just because they’ve changed their silly little minds and make up lies about “mental distress” to get them.

Unfuckingbelievable. I am absolutely furious.

Tell us how you really feel, Melissa.

Talk Left

NARAL leaders ought to feel like idiots.

A leading anti-choice group says Obama either is being disingenous or he’s ignorant. (Note they don’t mention the third possibility which is that he’s on their side):

Looks like no one will be pleased with his new position. As I’ve said all along about his religious outreach, you don’t get something for nothing and if he wants the evangelical vote, he’s going to have to offer them something. Is this it?

The Left is learning that when it comes to the people they nominate, especially a blatant neophyte, they will do anything and say anything to get elected, and, if that means throwing battery acid on the base while changing and abandoning positions as they see fit, so be it.

Dubya once said “you may not always like where I stand, but, you know what I stand for.” Obama might as well say “you may not always like where I stand, but, at least you have no idea where I will stand tomorrow.”

Over at Stop The ACLU, Obama’s flip flops causing Left to have whiplash.

Surrender Monkey Friday: The Neurosis Of The NY Times

Surrender Monkey Neurotic

Surrendie is thrilled today of the neurotic Sybil like articles available in the NY Times. First, he wants you to read this

The individual right to bear arms identified by the Supreme Court on Thursday will have little practical impact in most of the country, legal experts said, though Washington’s comprehensive ban on handguns used for self-defense in the home will have to be revised, and similar laws in several cities are also vulnerable.

So, the Heller decision is just a big yawn, no big deal, let’s move on, people!

For the law to be just, it must temper society’s anger over even the most horrible acts withdecency and restraint. The Supreme Court exemplified that principle on Wednesday, striking down the death penalty for the rape of a child. While acknowledging the horror of the crime, Justice Anthony Kennedy’s majority opinion drew on widely shared standards of decency, constitutional law and real-world impact to explain why the Constitution forbids punishing it withdeath.

The 5-to-4 ruling also laid down a critical standard: in cases of crimes against individuals (which excludes treason and espionage) the death penalty can be applied only when the victim’s life is taken. That rule should deter efforts to extend the use of capital punishment.

Refusing to allow people who violently sexually assault children without causing their deaths is a HUGE deal, though, and all must bow in the presenceof such wisdom, and don’t you damned neo-cons even THINK of trying to extend the death penalty to anyone else. Like abortion, this Right must never be touched and all people aspiring to the federal bench must follow this incredible precedent!

Of course, in another editorial, the Times is freaking out about the Heller ruling as being the future cause of un-countless gun related deaths. That they might be deaths of criminals shot by their attempted victims seems never to have crossed the Times’ neurotic mind

In his dissent, Justice John Paul Stevens was right when he said that the court has now established “a new constitutional right” that creates a “dramatic upheaval in the law.”

“Dramatic upheaval.” “New Constitutional Right.” It’s like the 2nd Amendment was just written yesterday. Goodness! Meanwhile, the 4th Amendment does not actually specify that it is only capital crimes, ie, ones that cause death, as the term “infamous crimes,” is included. In fact, it says that people shall not be deprived of their lives in these types of cases without due process, and I think brutally sexually assaulting an 8 year old, who will carry the mental and physical scars for the rest of her life, as “infamous.” Hell, back in the days of the Founders, said assailant would probably not have made it to a jury trial.

Surrender Monkey Friday: Viva La Wiretapping!

surrender monkey flatulence

Surrendie trots out and older banner of his, to celebrate exactly what the Democrats in Congress to done to their unhinged minions. Washington Post - Congress Strikes Deal to Overhaul Wiretap Law

After months of wrangling, Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress struck a deal on Thursday to overhaul the rules on the government’s wiretapping powers and provide what amounts to legal immunity to the phone companies that took part in President Bush’s program of eavesdropping without warrants after the Sept. 11 attacks.

The deal, expanding the government’s powers to spy on terrorism suspects in some major respects, would strengthen the ability of intelligence officials to eavesdrop on foreign targets. It would also allow them to conduct emergency wiretaps without court orders on American targets for a week if it is determined that important national security information would otherwise be lost. If approved, as appears likely, the agreement would be the most significant revision of surveillance law in 30 years.

The agreement would settle one of the thorniest issues in dispute by providing immunity to the phone companies in the Sept. 11 program as long as a federal district court determined that they received legitimate requests from the government directing their participation in the program of wiretapping without warrants.

Good for them! Because, really, the “domestic wiretapping” was really….well, you know, cause it has been discussed thousands of times, and the wireline companies…..well, you know. No point rehashing old reality against the disreality of the Reality Based Community.

Of course, the Left has become (more) unhinged. Mr. Sock Puppet has taken yet another dive into the deep end of the pool. Karl at protein wisdom dissects the Sock Puppet.

The ACLU Blog is so unhinged, that the writer, Amanda Simon, actually writes “God Bless Sock Puppet.”

The Huffington Post is unhinged at Obama for failing to stop this deal, stating that he is “ducking this battler.” It would be a change if Obama actually joined in a tough Senate battle. Usually, he sits them out or votes present. The Daily Kos is upset with the Missiah, too, and want you to write him talk to him in the confessional and ask him to stop this.

From Crooks and Liars: There’s some new info just coming out on the FISA bill that we’ll have up in a little while. It looks like a ummm….compromise a giveaway deal has been struck: “ACLU Condemns FISA Deal, Declares Surveillance Bill Unconstitutional“. (I wasn’t aware that the ACLU was a direct part of the Supreme Court.) Expect an IMPORTANT ACTION ALERT sometime soon (yeah, I know, that was MyDD originally.)

C&L is also working to raise money for some sort of accountability crap. When liberals can throw their money away on something like this, it surely defeats the notion that the economy sucks, eh?

Anyhow, you can view both sanity and the Unhinged at this Memeorandum link.
