All those folks who keep telling us that Islam is a religion of peace need a beer

An apparent car bomb exploded outside the Danish embassy in Pakistan’s capital on Monday, killing at least five people and wounding dozens more, officials and witnesses said.

The blast echoed through Islamabad and left a crater more than three feet deep in the road in front of the embassy. Shattered glass, fallen masonry and dozens of wrecked vehicles littered the area. A plume of smoke rose above the scene as people, some bloodied, ran back and forth in a state of panic.

The explosion appeared to be a car bomb, police officer Muhammad Ashraf said. Someone parked a car in front of the embassy and it exploded at around 1 p.m, he said.

Officials at two hospitals reported at least five people — including two policemen — were killed and 35 wounded in the blast.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri recently called for attacks on Danish targets in response to the publication of caricatures in Danish newspapers depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

Like most people in Mingo County, West Virginia, Leonard Simpson is a lifelong Democrat. But given a choice between Barack Obama and John McCain in November, the 67-year-old retired coalminer would vote Republican.

“I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist,” said Mr Simpson, drawing on a cigarette outside the fire station in Williamson, a coalmining town of 3,400 people surrounded by lush wooded hillsides.

OK, Obama is not a Muslim and his wife is not an atheist. But, he sure seems to like the extremist Muslim way of life, and his wife sure doesn’t seem to like the country her husband is running to lead.

No Democrat has been elected to the White House without carrying West Virginia since 1916, yet Mr Obama appears to have little chance of winning there in November. Recent opinion polls indicate that Mrs Clinton would narrowly beat Mr McCain in the state but Mr Obama would lose by nearly 20 percentage points.

The rest of the story seems to be about how racist and stupid the people of West Virginia are, nothing unusual from the Credentialed Media, but, inadvertently, the Financial Times highlights that Obama is not a uniter.

Yes, it is finally here, the eyes of the country are on North Carolina’s posterior today. Get out and vote for John McCain and Fred Smith.

An interesting interview on 680-WPTF this a.m. The host was asking some Democrat wonk about whether all these new young voters are Democrat voters or Barack voters. She said a bit of both, but, it might be interesting if he loses the primaries, because they are so emotionally invested. In other words, they are buying the hype of Mr. Hope and Change, rather then any policies he might have. Somewhere. Not sure where. I haven’t seen them.
