		<description>Yes it has.  I was in Ramadi all year in 2006, and talking to my friends that are out there now, it has been an unbelievable transformation.  For the record, I dont know anyone in the military that thought it would actually work when it started, but everyone admits now that it did.  Real Army grunts (and company level officers)like us dont just go with the crowd, we know when the results are real and when they aren't.</description>

		<description>Yes, it appears the surge has worked.  But there are many things that have contributed to progress in Iraq.  Some of them are difficult to know without being involved in the politics or culture there.  Iraqis needed time to pull things together in a secure environment, and the surge seems to have helped.

I am amazed - even today - at people who want us to simply leave Iraq.  They seem to have forgotten the events of just 6 years ago.  We can either forget about 9/11 or do something about it.  It appears the first choice is gaining momentum and that is disturbing.</description>
