I mentioned the other day that the most anti-American folks around, who just happens to be the worst president ever, wants to meet with a Hamas leader on a mid-East trip. Not that I was surprised, of course. Now

The Bush administration has urged former President Jimmy Carter not to go forward with plans to meet with the leader of Hamas, the State Department said Thursday.

Carter may meet next week in Damascus, Syria, with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, as part of a trip to the Middle East.

Carter really needs to find a new hobby. I would suggest getting a pair of baggy shorts and a metal detector. He can comb the beaches of Cuba.

And, according to Politico

“Sen. Obama does not agree with President Carter’s decision to go forward with this meeting because he does not support negotiations with Hamas until they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel’s right to exist, and abide by past agreements,” a spokesman for the Obama campaign said. “As president, Obama will negotiate directly with the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.”

And after that, the Messiah will negotiate directly with Meshaal, Mookie, Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, and any other dictator and terrorist leader he can find.

I wonder if Obama understands that the State Department does this kind of stuff? Presidents historically only deal with these kinds of people when they are really, really, really important, such as the leaders of the Soviet Union and mainland China? Of course, Billy Jeff set the bar for Democrats by meeting with Arrafat more then any other world leader.

Maybe that’s why Obama wants to meet with terrorists: Clinton set a Dem precedent.
